dentist and gymnastics

today was a good day!! the weather was incredible, trey spent the day with us, and we had fun things planned.

this morning we took aubren to her first dentist appointment. the entire visit was a bit bizarre; my first impression was walking into the restroom and seeing a cup full of used toothbrushes and travel sized toothpastes. of course, in the back of my mind i knew there was a reasonable explanation, but my first thought was, "oh my, surely they don't leave these out for patients to use." when i asked the receptionist, she told me they were the employee's personal brushes. i still think it was strange!

when we went to the exam room the dentist didn't really even talk to aubs. you might think that a pediatric dentist would try to make a 2yr old feel comfortable on her first visit, but this one simply asked her how old she was before prying open her mouth. aubren handled it like a pro even though the atmosphere wasn't what i expected, and her teeth looked good!

from the dentist we went to aubren's gymnastics class. she was so excited to show trey everything she had learned over the summer. she took him by the hand to the different stations, and if he wasn't helping her do an activity, she would ask him to watch everything she did. it has been really fun to watch her excel over the past few months. when she started, in may, she couldn't jump on the trampoline, complete a somersault, or sit still long enough to listen to the teacher explain an activity. now, she can do all three - and more!! it is the first thing she has really gotten into and is excited about. she talks about it all week and loves to wear her leotards around the house.we went shopping for leotards this weekend and she really wanted this patriotic one, but the arms were too big. i love the way she fills out these little outfits!
