potty training

the last two weeks have been focused on potty training. aubren was finally showing signs of interest so we decided that spring break would be the best time to start. our schedule is usually so busy and having a week of nothing to do was a great opportunity! she has only had 2 accidents and loves wearing her new panties. i love how she lifts up her dress or pulls down her pants to show us which ones she has picked out. we usually get a booty shake as well.

today though was our first venture out with panties. i wasn't planning on starting this stage yet but she was determined to wear them. so we went to school and got her class picture taken then went to boomerangs (a bounce house place) with playgroup. since i wasn't ready to deal with an accident in a bounce house she had to wear pullups but she kept them dry the entire time and actually asked me to go to the restroom three times. i was so proud.

after her nap we went to the hospital to see our friend, jenny, and her baby boy. i told her to try to use the restroom before we left the house and she refused, saying she didn't need to go. i chose to fight her on it because i did not want to deal with a mess but after her melting down and crying i decided to follow her lead. i did, however, explain to her that if she chose not to try and then had an accident she would have to sit in her wet carseat. she agreed and thankfully made it all the way to the hospital. on our way in i told her not to go potty and to hold it. i looked down and she and her toy dinosaur, rexy (her favorite toy at the moment) were literally holding her bahonkas (the name of her bottom)! i started laughing and told her i didn't mean she actually had to hold it and she giggled and said "oh" and let go.

so i am proud to say today was a success!! not that we won't have accidents in the future but it was a promising start. i am so glad that we waited until aubren was ready and didn't force her in the potty training process! it has been a 1 1/2 years since her first trip to the potty - way to go aubs!!! your daddy and mommy are so proud of you!
