back to the hospital we go...

Well, Aubren decided that going to the hospital once this week wasn't enough. Last night we were at McDonald's with Trey's family and she tripped off the steps of the playset, landing awkwardly on her left arm. She cried for a while - which is not like her, especially when her 6 cousins are there to play. She was also favoring her arm and would not move it. So, off to the emergency room we went. Thankfully, it was not very crowded. They poked and bent her arm around, which was no fun. She cried quite a bit, especially when they took x-rays. They saw that she had a posterior fat pad - basically, alot of swelling - but couldn't see fractures. The swelling can hide fractures, though; and it takes 5-7 days for the swelling to go down enough to figure out what happened. With the promise of a "pop-a-sicle," she took some tylenol with codeine and got splinted up. The medicine made her a little loopy - by the time we left the hospital she was kissing the x-rays. As always, she was a little trooper but she was glad to get home; and she was also very excited to bring home a new "tiger" blanket from the hospital.

This morning she decided she wanted to wear her no-no (a velcro arm covering from previous hospital visits) on her right arm. It was so funny because she was trying to pick things up, but both of her arms had splints!

This week we have to contact an orthopedic surgeon and have more x-rays done to determine the injury. Hopefully, it is just a sprain!!
