care bearrific

we took aubren to the orthopedic surgeon today, only to have our suspicions confirmed. she did indeed break her elbow and unfortunately, the x-rays show the break has worsened since Saturday. so, she will be having surgery early next week; the surgeon will go in and put pins in her elbow. after the procedure, she will have another splint for a week to ten days, then a cast for a month or so.

she had been complaining about her finger hurting lately with the old splint, and we sort of disregarded it because they looked okay. of course, we could only see the tips of them through the splint - when they took it off, i saw her little fingers and decided that i will never disregard something if she says it hurts! in this case, the bandage was too tight and had cut into her skin - i should know by now that she never complains unless there is really something hurting. i was nervous about her appointment today but she did great - she was thrilled when the new splint went on and they left her fingers out. the highlight of her visit, though, was getting a really cool care bear sling. she is totally into care bears right now, so she was excited!


of course, when we got home daddy and aubs had one of their photo shoots. i love that trey takes photos and that aubren loves to pose - especially when the session ends in her getting a marshmallow treat! the whole time she kept asking to take a picture of trey with "the camera with the red button." so, after trey was finished, he got out one of his polaroid cameras and let her snap some photos!
